In some regions, garden cress is known as mustard and cress, garden pepper cress, pepperwort, pepper grass, or poor man's pepper. Other names for Garden Cress are: Berro Hortelano, Asario, Cresson Alénois, Cresson de Jardin, Lepidio, Lepidium sativum and Mastuerzo. NaturCress is about 93% cress seed by weight.
An Ancient Medicinal Herb
Garden cress belongs to a family of plants, the Cruciferae, or Brassicaceae. Other members of the family include cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, and radishes. So cress shares some of the same benefits to with these related plants.
Humans have used Garden Cress at least since the times of ancient Persia. Garden cress, known as chandrashoor, and the seeds, known as aaliv in Marathi, or halloon in India, are commonly used in the system of Ayurveda. It is also known as asario in India and the Middle East where it is prized as a medicinal herb, called habbat al hamra (literally red seeds) in Arabic. In the Arabian Peninsula, the seeds are traditionally mixed with custard to make a hot drink. The Ayurvedic scholars of ancient India, though, have documented a number of uses for the plant. Even so, today's North American consumers may overlook it as a useful herb.
Many plants of this family contain glucosinolates. Scientists have identified this group of phytochemicals as important elements in our diets.
The United States Department of Agriculture, suggests that adult women should eat 2.5 cups of vegetables per day. Adult men, meanwhile, should eat 3 cups. Adding raw broccoli, Brussels sprouts, or cauliflower to the menu can also boost levels of glucosinolates in the diet: https://bit.ly/2B6xed6

What benefits does NaturCress have, besides natural heartburn relief?
Here are some other benefits of cress seed:
- Healthy respiratory system
- Contains Vitamin C
- Regular bowel movements
- Bodily water balance
- Immune system support
Garden Cress seeds contain glucosinolates that have drawn the attention of scientists. Science has found a connection between these molecules and healthy cell development. In addition, they seem to support the healthy moderation of gastric juices. The latter quality makes them especially important for relieving occasional heartburn associated with eating foods like tacos, pizza, onions, coffee, and other stomach irritants and large portions. So, people who take herbal supplements containing the seeds of Garden Cress not only enjoy eating without episodic heartburn, but also benefit their overall health.

While foodies may know Garden Cress as a salad and sandwich herb, most don’t know about its beneficial properties. High in dietary fiber, it aids digestion. In addition, its seeds provide temporary relief from occasional heartburn caused by overeating. And, research has shown that it actually supports balanced stomach acid levels.

Garden Cress Contains Important Molecules
Dr. Tushar Ray conducted research critical to the formulation of NaturCress supplements for heartburn relief. He found that metabolites from glucosinolates, or mustard oil glycosides, play a role in the healthy regulation of gastric juices. A special enzyme in the Garden Cress seed breaks these molecules down into mustard oil and glucose. Mustard oil, in turn, supports healthy levels of stomach acid, preventing heartburn from overeating.
In addition to their ability to provide quick relief, these mustard oils have long term benefits because they contribute to stable cell maintenance. This is why Garden Cress seed provides both short- and long-term benefits for the body.
Peace of Mind
NaturCress™ is very timely in light of news of negative side effects and suspected cancer-causing impurities of some popular OTC and prescription treatments for acid indigestion.
